“When some Wrangler drivers head north, hills tended to be an issue. In the new 2012 Wrangler, these hills can be climbed at the posted speed limits without any struggle. Before, there was a problem with constant down shifting and the need for higher RPMs to maintain speed,” said Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Internet Manager Sharrod Stone.

“With the old model, Wrangler drivers had to change their axle gear ratio—at a cost of about $1400—to prevent major power loss and a drop in fuel economy. With the new Pentastar and five speed transmission it is not necessary,” said Stone.
